MY APPROACH
Throughout my career, I have learned that the best way to work with the kids, is to get on their level, to find out their passions/ interests and focus my therapy around client centered care. I focus more on using an educational model, as my background has been working extensively with school age children at their schools. Therapy sessions are 45 minutes long and involve fine/visual motor strengthening with a craft, game, or play directed activity (i.e. manipulating theraputty), followed by a writing task to solidify student’s school readiness and handwriting skills. Movement breaks and/or sensory strategies are used as needed based on child’s needs. At the end of each session, a debrief will be done with the parents.
